Nguyen Thi Mai Anh is an Associate and key member of the Firm’s Dispute Resolution practice. Anh assists local and international clients in disputes arising out of various fields, with a focus on construction and energy, in both arbitration (VIAC, SIAC, and ICC) and litigation proceedings. Anh has been recognized for her diligence, technical understanding of the industry, and exemplary approach to complex multi-disciplinary cases. Anh frequently publishes on arbitration-related guides such as World Arbitration Reporter, Global Arbitration Review, and Delos Guide to Arbitration Places. Anh also at times works on maritime matters.

International Arbitration:
  • An ICC arbitration of under USD 500 million involving an oil and gas contract against a State-owned company
  • Two ICC arbitrations of over USD 20 million involving contracts for the construction of high-ways against a State-owned company
  • A VIAC arbitration of over USD 100 million involving an EPC contract against a Korean contractor
  • A SIAC arbitration of over USD 30 million involving a share purchase agreement against a Vietnamese media company
Commercial Litigation:
  • A lawsuit of over USD 100 million involving an EPC contract at Hanoi People’s Court
  • A lawsuit of over USD 300,000 involving an insurance policy at Hoan Kiem People’s Court as the first-instance court and Hanoi People’s Court as the appeal court
  • A lawsuit of nearly USD 800,000 involving a collision in Vietnamese waters at Hai Phong People’s Court
  • A bankruptcy procedure against a Vietnamese company for failure to pay over USD 1 million under a ship purchase agreement
  • Various proceedings for recognition of foreign arbitral awards

  • Advised a German shipping company on various points of Vietnamese laws to implement their coal transshipment project for Nghi Son 2 Thermal Power Plant
  • Advised a Malaysian company in a dispute with a State-owned company about a change of work under a service agreement for an oil and gas field offshore Vietnam
  • Advised a Chinese contractor in a dispute with a Vietnamese employer and sub-contractors on various issues arising from a construction project in Vietnam
  • Advised reinsurers in a dispute with a State-owned insurer and insured concerning several consecutive insurance policies for an FPSO
  • Advised a Singaporean coal company in a dispute with a State-owned energy company about a failure to provide COO
  • Advised an FDI resort owner in a dispute with local authorities in Binh Dinh province about their land-use rights
  • Advised the next of kin of a Vietnamese pilot deceased in a mid-air collision to claim damages against aviation companies in the UK
  • Advised a Canadian company in the enforcement of a potential ICC arbitral award arising from an offtake agreement against a Vietnamese mining company
  • Advised a BVI shipowner in the enforcement of an LMAA arbitral award against its vessels in Vietnam
  • Advised a Korea P&I underwriter for matters arising from a capsize incident in Vietnamese waters
  • Advised a UK P&I underwriter for matters arising from a collision in Vietnamese waters
  • Advised shipowners, shipping lines, and underwriters on various issues, including cargo claim, ship claim, marine collision, oil pollution, salvage, general average, ship arrest, etc.
