Our Team

Hoa joined Dzungsrt & Associates in May 2023 as an Associate focusing on Dispute Resolution and Shipping. Hoa holds a Master of Laws in Property Law, a joint degree offered by Université Paris-Panthéon-Assas (Paris II) and the University of Economics and Law, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City. Hoa is currently pursuing the Lawyer Training Program (International Integration Track) at the Judicial Academy in Ho Chi Minh City.

His expertise covers all areas of Shipping (Dry and Wet Work), including cargo claims, demurrage and detention claims, disputes arising out of bills of lading and transport documents, bunker disputes, exercise of liens, ship arrests, shipowner’s limitation of liability, collision, salvage, oil pollution, and wreck removal. In addition, Hoa assists in corporate and commercial law, dispute resolution, and business law.

SHIPPING DRY AND WET WORKS

• Advised and assisted P&I Club in negotiations with the port authorities, customs authorities and other local authorities for the resolution of oil spill incident following a marine collisions.
• Assisted shipping lines in pursuing demurrage and detention claims against consignees and other related parties.
• Supported shipowners in insurance recovery claims arising from total loss incidents.
• Advised and assisted carriers in resolving issues relating to cargoes idling at ports, including recovery of related costs from responsible parties.
• Reviewed contracts, bills of lading, and other shipping documents to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
• Assisted shipping lines in pursuing claims for losses caused by misdeclaration of cargo.
• Supported insurers in handling claims under marine insurance policies arising from carriage of goods by sea.
• Advised and assisted shipowners in negotiations with fishermen and local authorities for the release of vessels involved in marine collisions with fish farms in Vietnam.
• Advised carriers and cargo owners on time limitation issues under Vietnamese law.
• Assisted domestic and foreign shipowners in negotiations and proceedings with relevant authorities for the release of arrested vessels involved in collision and allision cases.
• Advised and supported the owner of a construction work in arresting a vessel that caused damage to the construction site in Vietnam.
• Represented a shipping line in negotiations with cargo interests concerning delayed cargo delivery due to foreign court injunctions.
• Assisted shipping companies in drafting correspondence with customs authorities to resolve long-idling cargoes at ports.

 DISPUTE RESOLUTION

• Advised and represented a Singaporean company in a dispute with a Vietnamese company concerning an offshore oil pipeline repair project.
• Represented a multinational corporation in disputes with a project owner arising from interior design service contracts.
• Acted for a Malaysian company in a legal proceedings requesting recognition and enforcement of a foreign arbitral award in Vietnam against a well-known Vietnamese steel manufacturer.
• Represented a Vietnamese airline in a dispute over an aircraft lease agreement with a UK-based company.
• Represented a Malaysian company in a document production lawsuit before a Vietnamese court against a Vietnamese company.
• Represented a Norwegian shipowners in a legal proceedings requesting recognition and enforcement of a foreign arbitral award in Vietnam against a well-known Vietnamese port operator.
• Represented a Norwegian shipowners in a legal proceedings requesting recognition and enforcement of a foreign arbitral award in Vietnam against a Vietnamese charterer.

CORPORATE AND COMMERCIAL ADVICE

• Updated Vietnamese labor law regulations for a Chinese e-commerce group.
  Advised a multinational shipping company on the expansion of its freight forwarding agency services for routes from Vietnam to Russia.
